Ziggurat Installation Instructions

 

Ziggurat is a UCI (Universal Chess Interface) engine, which means it has a standardized textual comman line interface.  I recommend you download a front end such as Arena (see downloads section) to use the Ziggurat engine to play chess.

 

To install Ziggurat, simply copy the files to the folder where you would like to install the program.  If you are using Arena, this would probably be the Arena/Engines folder.

 

To install Ziggurat in Arena:

1. First download and install Arena.

2. Run Arena

3. Click on the "Engines" menu, then on "Manage..."

4. Click on the "Details" tab

5. Click on the "Installation wizard" button

6. Click on "Forward>>"

7. Make sure the "Engines" folder is highlighted, then click on "Forward>>"

8. Click the checkbox next to either ziggurat_win32.exe and/or ziggurat_x64.exe, then click on "Forward>>"

9. Click the "UCI" radio button

10. Click "Finish"

11. Click on the "Select" tab

12. Select Ziggurat from the engines list, then click the left arrow to move it into the "Loaded engines" box

13. Click "Apply," then you're set.

 

Ziggurat has a few non-standard functions if you run it in a command window.  Type "help" to get a list of all commands.
